Use a ROLLER, put it on thick. The paint is a soft shield. A brush helps in corners. Use masking tape for the waterline.
When the organism grabs on to this paint it later falls off with the little flake of paint stuck to their paws as they drift away in the current.... ... AAhhhhaaaa....
