Quicker Forestay Attachment on a Hobie 16

Ever hold the mast with one hand, while blindly trying to find the forestay with the other, before swinging it multiple times to your crew to attach to the bridle?
A 3 or 4 foot long bungee takes care of this problem. After engaging your stepping pin (before mast raising), run the bungee from your forestay to the bridle. After raising your mast, the forestay will be at the bridle, waiting for your crew.
