Aquavit Boat Systems:

To ensure the safe and correct operation of the boat. This boat has the following systems that should

be checked for correct operation prior to your departure.

Battery charger box

Electrical Systems:

The electrical power for this boat is supplied via a 12 Volt battery, located in the portside storage bin. To ensure that you have adequate power for your journey the battery voltage should be maintained near 12.6 volts.  This can be checked via the voltmeter (located on the portside wall) push the switch and view the display. If the voltage displayed is less than the desired value please use only essential electrical systems for your journey. If the voltage shown is less than 10 volts you have no radio. Risky to take the boat out and,  so inform the fleet captain or maintenance staff of the problem prior to departure,  English Bay sailing only until a better charge is made..

 (Note when checking the voltage do not leave the switch in the test position)

Charging the battery:

The motor automatically charges the battery when it is in use and charges at a rate of 6Amps per hour.

In addition, the battery can also be charged from shore via the yellow power cable (located in the portside storage bin), which connects to the battery charger. The battery charger has two charging rates;

Automatic:- Charges at a rate of 6Amps per hour.

Manual:-  Charges at a rate of 12 Amps per hour.

The electrical system can also run directly from

shore power and through the yellow power cable

 (located in the portside storage bin), which

connects to the electrical system via battery charger.

Electrical Circuits:

Located on the portside wall (below the battery tester) is the boat’s power board that contains all electrical circuits’ switches and fuses.

The switches should be in the right position (off) when that particular system is not being used and to the left (on) when required. Prior to departure, check all electrical systems. If there is a system malfunction inform the fleet captain or maintenance staff of the problem prior to departure.
